Infrared (IR) Technology

Sunovia Energy Technologies, together with EPIR Technologies, offers more than 25 years of combined experience in the development of advanced infrared light-detection devices and extensive expertise in what are commonly referred to as II-VI materials, which are uniquely combined to form the semiconductor structures to be used in our solar PV technologies. EPIR previously developed advanced light-detection technologies for night vision and for missile defense and Air Force space systems, and the company continues to provide this technology to the U.S. Department of Defense.

The infrared technology market has been growing tremendously over the past few decades. Several emerging sectors in both the civilian and the military markets show significant potential for growth. Our new infrared materials and device products will further advance mercury cadmium telluride-based infrared technology and will provide much needed components for major defense contractors and commercial manufacturers alike for the production of infrared sensors and imagers at a reduced cost. The company has demonstrated several product concepts through cutting edge research performed under Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contracts and other private and government contracts.

More than $30 million dollars have been invested into the EPIR Technologies laboratory and the research and development of our IR and solar programs. Our R&D team has dedicated the last 25 years to becoming the world leader in IR material production and advanced high-throughput semiconductor manufacturing processes. Our facilities and our team are among the very best in the world in the development of light absorption technologies, including solar and IR.
